Buttermilk Pancakes

What a special adventure it used to be to sleep over at grandma's house. She was never happy until our hearts and bellies were full. Waking up to the smell of griddle cakes wafting through the house on Saturday morning was incredible! You can treat your family to that same joy by starting your own Buttermilk Griddle Cakes tradition – with grandma's recipe, of course. Just a few dry ingredients mixed with eggs, Smith's Buttermilk, Smith's Milk and butter, and you're on your way. No matter if you have grandma's old cast iron griddle or an ordinary fry pan, these Buttermilk Griddle Cakes will bubble up, turn golden brown and become your new Saturday morning go-to. How to Make

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp soda
  • 3 tsp baking powder
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 2 slightly beaten eggs
  • 2 cups Smith's buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup Smith's milk
  • 2 tbsp melted butter or vegetable oil

DIRECTIONS

  1. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
  2. In a separate bowl, beat together Smith's buttermilk, Smith's milk, eggs and melted butter.
  3. Keep the two mixtures separate until you are ready to cook.
  4. Heat a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over medium-high heat.
  5. Pour the wet mixture into the dry mixture, using a wooden spoon or fork to blend. Stir until it's just blended together. Do not over stir!
  6. Pour or scoop the batter onto the griddle, using approximately 1/2 cup for each pancake.
  7. Brown on both sides and serve hot.
